The Australian Government's Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative allows people with referrals from their GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist to obtain Medicare rebates for their psychology sessions. In such cases, the GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist writes out a referral in the form of a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan which is sent to the psychologist. In order to obtain a Medicare rebate, one must have a referral from their medical practitioner.
Private referrals (e.g. self-referrals, workcover and other third party referrals) are welcome at PsychCare Psychology & Mental Health. No medicare rebates will be available and full fees will apply. Some clients with Private Health Insurances which cover psychology sessions may be entitled to a rebate from their insurer. Please contact your Private Health Insurance for information regarding how much you may be entitled to.

PsychCare Psychology and Mental Health provides psychological interventions to those who serve or have served in defence of our nation, and their families. DVA clients require a referral from their GP to access psychology services under DVA .
PsychCare Psychology accepts referrals for Workcover for work-related psychological or psychiatric injuries (such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder etc). These injuries are disorders or illnesses that affects your mood, feelings, thoughts or behaviour that may would have resulted from one's job . They may be caused by a single event or develop over time. Clients require a referral from their GP to obtain psychological interventions under WorkCover Qld.

Registered Psychologists
The Registered Psychologist fee depends on the Registered Psychologist you see and is between $200 and $220 per 50-60minute consultations. The current Medicare rebate for Medicare referrals (GP Mental Health Care Plans) for 50-60minute consultations with Registered psychologists is $92.90 per session (Out of Pocket: $107.10).
Clinical Psychologists
The Clinical Psychologist fee is $245 per 50- 60minute consultations. The current Medicare rebate for Medicare referrals (GP Mental Health Care Plans) for 50- 60minute consultations with clinical psychologists is $136.35 per session. (Out of Pocket: $108.65).
Director & Clinical Psychologist
The Director & Clinical Psychologist fee is $250 per 50- 60minute consultations. The current Medicare rebate for Medicare referrals (GP Mental Health Care Plans) for 50- 60minute consultations with clinical psychologists is $136.35 per session. (Out of Pocket: $113.65).
Nurse Practitioner - Drug and Alcohol
The current Medicare rebate for at least 40 minutes with a Nurse Practitioner is $52.70 per session. No GP referral is required to see a Nurse Practitioner. Please contact us for the full cost of seeing a nurse practitioner.
Provisional Psychologists
Provisional Psychologists do not see patients under Medicare referrals (GP Mental Health Care Plans).
The Provisional Psychologist fee is $110 per 50- 60minute consultations.
No Medicare rebates will be available for Private referrals for both therapy and assessments. Full standard consultation fees apply which will be discussed with your psychologist. Private Health Insurance holders with policies which cover psychology and/or nurse practitioner sessions may be entitled to a rebate from their insurers. Please contact your Private Health Insurance for information regarding how much you may be entitled to.
Registered Psychologists
The cost for a private session with a Registered Psychologist is $200 - $220 per 50- 60 minute consultations.
Clinical Psychologists
The cost for a private session with a Clinical Psychologist is $245 per 50- 60 minute consultations.
Provisional Psychologists
The cost for a private session with a Provisional Psychologist is $110 per 50- 60 minute consultations.
Nurse Practitioner - Drug and Alcohol
The cost for a private session with a Nurse Practitioner is $200 per 50- 60 minute consultations.
There are no out of pocket costs for WorkCover and/ or DVA sessions. Invoices will be sent directly to WorkCover and/ or DVA.
